Things are wrapping up here at Grey Roots for the summer. Summer KidsCamp is done and final reports are being written, staff is finishing their last few days of vacation, and it seems like everyday now we are wishing a fond farewell to another summer student. Even the 10 heritage chickens that have been laying all summer in the Village are heading out shortly to their new home. What a great and busy summer!
Planning is well underway for autumn’s events and exhibits. All summer long students have been helping make contacts for the Grey County Warden’s Golf Tournament set to tee off on September 13, 2013 at Legacy Ridge. Always a fun day, and this year we have ordered some sunny, warm weather with a light breeze…we can always hope, right?
Interpretation is busy working on this fall’s new original exhibit, Saints & Sinners: A Spirited History of Grey County. I’ve read the panels, which are fascinating, and the artefacts will help tell this amazing history. Ever see a still? The exhibit opens to members on Friday night, October 4 and to the public on Saturday, October 5.
Hope you all enjoy the last days of summer!
P.S. – In case you haven’t seen our new mechanical cow we got this summer, here is a shot of “Milky Whey.” Look for her in the future as part of an exhibit showing off our agricultural history. Moo!

I love my bovine, I milk her daily.
